The returns setting lets you choose what happens to the interest and principal repayments earned from your Core Loans and Custom Loans portfolios. By default, these returns are automatically reinvested into your portfolio. Alternatively, you can choose to collect them as available cash, giving you greater control over how your money works on Mintos.
What returns options are available?
There are three returns settings available for each Core Loans and Custom Loans portfolio:
- Reinvest all: By default, both your interest and principal repayments stay in your portfolio and are automatically reinvested into new investments, so your money remains fully invested.
- Reinvest principal: Your principal repayments continue to be reinvested, while the interest you earn is allocated to your Available cash. This allows you to use the interest for other investments or withdraw it if you choose.
- Off: Both your interest and principal repayments are allocated to your Available cash. Nothing is reinvested automatically, giving you full control over how to use your funds.
What is the default setting?
The default setting is Reinvest all. This means interest and principal repayments are automatically reinvested back into your portfolio unless you change this setting.
How do I change my returns setting?
You can update your returns setting at any time:
- Go to your Core Loans or Custom Loans portfolio
- Select Returns
- Choose one of the options:
- Reinvest all
- Reinvest principal
- Off
- Select Save settings
Your new setting will apply to all future returns for that portfolio.
Using returns settings with daily investment plans
Returns settings and daily investment plans are two separate features, but they can work together depending on how you want to manage your cash.
What each feature does
Daily investment plans automatically allocate funds from Available cash to your Core Loans or Custom Loans Portfolio cash each day.
Returns setting is designed to give you full control over the behaviour of your loan portfolios’ returns - whether they are reinvested or accumulated in Available cash for manual investing, portfolio rebalancing, or withdrawal.
How they work together
If you choose Reinvest principal or Off setting, your returns (interest or both interest and principal) will be allocated to your Available cash.
If you also have a daily investment plan active on the same portfolio, that cash may be automatically reinvested back into it.
This means your returns could end up being reinvested even if you intended to keep them in Available cash.
How to use them effectively
To have more control over your cash flow, you can use these features across different portfolios.
For example, you might:
- Set one portfolio to allocate returns to your Available cash
- Use a daily investment plan on another portfolio to automatically invest that cash
This way, you can direct your earnings where you want them.
Making changes
You can update your returns setting at any time in your portfolio if you want to change where your returns go.
