In most cases, lending companies issue loans to borrowers in the currency commonly used in the country where the lending company is located. On Mintos, the currency of each loan is displayed on the loan details page and can also be found in the respective assignment agreement in the case of investments in claims. In the case of Notes, the currency of each Set of Notes is displayed on the Note details page and can also be found in the respective prospectus and final terms. The currency in which the loan or Set of Notes is listed on the platform for investment can be different from the currency in which the underlying loans were issued.
When an investment opportunity is listed on the platform in a currency that is different from the currency in which the underlying loans were issued, the lending company assumes a currency exchange risk. When borrower repayments are received or when repurchase or buyback prices have to be paid, the lending company must transfer the amount to Mintos in the listed currency. If the currency of the underlying loans devalues significantly against the listed currency, the lending company's ability to transfer amounts due to the investor might be impacted.
