When submitting your 2026 personal income tax return, you can indicate that your Mintos account is an investment account starting from the date it was opened.
Mintos account opened in 2024
Additional steps are required.
You will need to amend your 2024 personal income tax return, which can be corrected within 3 years from the filing deadline, i.e., until 30 April 2028.
If you plan to treat the account as an investment account, it is most practical to submit the amendment together with your 2026 tax declaration.
How to amend the tax return:

Contact the Estonian Tax Authorities and request that they open your 2024 electronic tax return for amendments.Paper submission:
Submit a new tax return, which will replace the previously submitted one.

Mintos account opened before 2024
Additional steps are required.
- You will need to amend the tax return for 2024 that has already been submitted, which can be amended within 3 years from the filing deadline, i.e., until 30 April 2028. If you choose to treat the account as an investment account, submitting the amendments duringthe 2026 tax declaration makes the most sense.
- To amend the tax return electronically, you will need to contact the Estonian Tax Authorities and request that they open the 2024 electronic tax return for corrections. Paper tax returns can be amended by submitting a new tax return, which will replace the previous one.

You must report the qualifying financial assets held in your Mintos account as of 31 December 2023 by declaring their acquisition cost as a contribution to the investment account on 1 January 2024.
