Two-factor authentication helps protect your account from unauthorized access as a result of a compromised password, phishing attacks, and other cybercrime by requiring an additional authentication factor, typically your phone. When you have two-factor authentication enabled, you will be asked to authenticate your log-in by entering a one-time security key. This means that even if someone has your password, they will not be able to access your account unless they also have access to your phone. While each investor can choose whether to use two-factor authentication as an extra layer of security, we highly recommend that you enable two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication is available on the Mintos website in the form of a one-time security key generated by an authentication app. Two-factor authentication via SMS is not available at this time.
To enable two-factor authentication, go to the Security section of your account settings, click on Enable next to Two-factor authentication, and follow the displayed instructions. You’ll receive an email confirmation once two-factor authentication has been enabled. When two-factor authentication is enabled, you will receive a 16-digit secret code. You can use this code if you need to link Mintos to your new authenticator app, in the event your phone gets lost, stolen, or erased. Please write it down or print a copy of it and store it in a safe place. Do not share your key with anyone, and be aware of phishing scams. We will never ask you for this key.
To disable two-factor authentication, go to the Security section of your account settings, click on Disable next to Two-factor authentication and insert the code from your authentication app. (What if I’ve lost access to my authentication app?) You’ll receive an email confirmation once two-factor authentication has been disabled.
