If you hold manual bond investments, you can sell eligible investments on the Secondary Market before they reach maturity. A 0.85% fee applies to every sale, and only investments with a positive yield-to-maturity for the buyer are eligible to list.
How to sell
- Go to your Bonds page
- Click the … next to the investment you want to sell, then choose Sell investment
- Enter the amount you want to sell
- Choose a sale price: At par (the investment's original value), at a discount (lower, to attract buyers faster), or at a premium (higher, if demand is strong)
- Click Confirm to finalize your listing
Once another investor purchases your investment, the principal amount will be credited to your available cash. Accrued interest is credited differently depending on the investment type. For direct bonds, it's credited to you immediately, whereas for bond-backed securities, it's credited on the next coupon date.
What to keep in mind
- Only investments with a positive yield-to-maturity for the buyer are eligible for sale.
- If you try to list multiple investments at once and see a "Something went wrong" error, try listing them in smaller batches or one at a time. If the issue persists, contact support.
