Investors on Mintos from Estonia - 20% growth in Q1 2021, and growing!
The first quarter of 2021 has shown some interesting highlights when it comes to investors from Estonia. We saw 20% growth in the first quarter of this year among new investors who choose to invest in loans on Mintos.
Mintos now counts 19 432 registered investors from Estonia, compared to 16 065 from April of last year. The average investment per Estonian investor in Q1 2021 amounts to 2 987€, a steady increase from a year ago, which measured at 2 035€ per investor back in Q2 of 2020.
Overall, investors from Estonia have funded over 474 million (nearly half-billion!) Euros since the beginning of Mintos, placing them in the platform’s top 3 by this metric. Despite the fact that a significant portion of this sum has been funded by Estonian legal entities, individual investors from the country are some of the most active on Mintos, the majority of them in the age group of 30-34.
While Germany has the highest number of registered investors overall, Estonia tops the list of investors per capita, if you consider the ratio of registered Mintos investors in each country against its population size. In terms of total loans funded since the beginning of Mintos, Estonia also tops the list with the highest volume of loans funded per capita, with an average amount of €24 431,13 per investor. Looking at other statistics it is also interesting to note that women from Estonia have been quite active on Mintos platform. Last year — Estonian women constituted 36% of all newly registered Estonian investors, which is the biggest female investor cohort increase in all of Europe. As of currently, Mintos records 4219 active female investors from Estonia, a sizable growth of 22% from last year’s April.
These developments once again show the future-looking mindset of our neighboring Estonians. We are happy about this cooperation and grateful for the trust and loyalty to Mintos! We look forward to providing more investing in loan opportunities to our existing and new investors from all our European countries!

Hi Mintos,
It would be interesting to know what are the average salaries in Estonia? How do they compare to Germany / Uk / Spain?

Hi Angus Interesting question. Our colleagues from Estonia share this resource - https://www.stat.ee/en/find-statistics/statistics-theme/work-life/wages-and-salaries-and-labour-costs/average-monthly-gross-wages-and-salaries - you can see the latest data on salaries in Estonia and compare it with what you know about Germany and Spain. I would have an assumption that salaries in Estonia are lower, making their strategy to invest a significant part of it - even more significant. For example, in the US it is thought to invest 5% of your annual income. I don't know if similar is thought in Estonia in schools or universities.
I found this comparison site of German and Estonian expenses and salaries - https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Germany&country2=Estonia
If you scroll down, you see -Salaries And FinancingGermany Estonia
Average Monthly Net Salary (After Tax) €2,476.34 €1,128.36 €
